So, I'm a longtime lurker now trying to finally get healthy and seek some help to lose weight. For reference, I'm a 33 year old, 5'5 male that's 272 pounds and tired of being heavy and out of shape. My weight spiraled out of control in high school thanks to a couple years of untreated Hypothyroidism going undetected and the doctors just all giving me some variation of "stop eating junkfood". I'm now on medication and have it under control, but the weight has come and mostly been here to stay. I've tried on and off exercising to lose weight and at the best when I last tried, managed to lose 25 pounds before getting angry and quitting because it was just numbers on a scale.
So to begin, I work a desk job for low money, and my average day is about 12 hours and sometimes longer, it's dark when I leave home, it's dark when I get home. Gyms are out of the question, I'm in rural USA and there are none close by that are not completely out of the way from my commute. I don't have anyone to exercise with, nor would I as I don't trust anyone that much to exercise with them. I don't exercise outside at all because I also don't trust anyone in my town that may see me to not start more rumors, and because it's usually dark when I'm home anyway. My lunch is a spring mix salad drowned in Italian and covered with canned chicken or tuna packet to help hide the taste of the lettuce, otherwise I vomit form it. Most of my dinners are some form of meat and vegetable, and the latter is usually thrown away as I find they taste horrible. Most of the time it's beef, chicken or wild game for my meals, if I even feel like cooking at all and remember to lay something out, after a work day it's usually just play a game or watch tv and browse online till it's time to sleep, and on a good night is maybe 4 and a half hours so that means out of a 7 day week I usually eat maybe 2 or 3 days of it and just grab snacks here and there to stave off the hunger. I'm tired of being fat, and want to lose weight but have zero idea of where to start and most of the suggestions I get are "just start running (something i loathe with a burning passion)" or some type of fad diet that I find suspicious to begin with for being a fad diet. So, what are some tips since I'm figuring more people here are not some sort of lifelong fitness and health freak.
