Losing weight by suddenly "winging it??"

Ok, I am so confused right now. I have been steadily but slowly losing weight by following a strict calorie deficit plan + exercise of around 1.5 hrs 3/4 times a day. I wrote down EVERYTHING and constantly tracked.

Within the last 10 days, I have been traveling and during this time have been too busy to track anything. So I thought, screw it, eat whatever whenever and just get this trip over with. Within these 10 days, I have LOST weight and I can physically see it! My pants got looser, my friends noticed, it is so crazy because I have been eating MORE and lots of bad foods too (donuts, chips, noodles, burgers, etc..). I went from eating 1700 calories a day to eating 2300+ on average. The only positive thing is because I am doing everything on foot, I tend to walk anywhere from 2-4 hours a day. Stil, this doesn't make sense. Why is this working and so fast? It shouldn't be.

I will go back to eating clean and exercising but I would like to know the reasoning, if any. I ama female if that makes any difference.
