So my friend has probably gained 50/60 pounds ever since she left university. That was 3 years ago. She doesn't have a job/study anymore, she's always home, so no physical activity and eats too much crap food. I went to her house the other day and she had tea with 4 tbs of sugar and 3 slices of pie. I told her she could join a gym, that'd give her something to do and would help her mentally. She says she has no money. Understandable, given she lives with her parents and like I said doesn't make money. The problem is that every little money she gets, she spends on merchandising of her favourite bands (books, dolls, etc). Her meals are basically pasta, fried meat, potatoes, rice and a lot of candy. I can't blame her fully given her mom follows the same diet and her dad doesn't care about it that much.
I know she feels terrible about her weight. She said the other day "I feel like eating a third slice... guess that's why I'm fat anyway". I just don't know what to do. She is completely out of touch with reality. Only cares about bands and buying merchandising. She's 24.
I've tried having her come to my house for dinner and present her with vegetables and healthier choices, but I come home at 9pm and she doesn't like having dinner that late.
The way she eats is how I used to. I've thankfully been provided with the chance to go to a gym (my BF joined with me) and of meeting a nice nutritionist who advised me on how to eat and how to make better choices.
What can I do?
