How do you get into weight lifting and stay motivated?

I've been yo yo'ing with my weight for quite some time now. Normally I just do CICO and go to the gym to do cardio exercises, but recently I've been kind of in a rut again.

I enjoy doing cardio exercises because it helps me see exactly how much calories I burn, which keeps me motivated and gives me a goal in my workouts. I've been wanting to get in to weight lifting for quite some time now, because I've been reading a lot about how weight lifting is a lot more efficient for losing weight. The only problem is: I don't know where to get started. How do you get into this? Where do you begin?

I'm also kind of afraid of losing my motivation, because weight training results aren't immediately measurable, so I’m scared of feeling like I don’t have a goal. Does anyone have any tips or advice in how to keep weight lifting exercises interesting or stories on what keeps you motivated in this kind of training: I'd love to hear your stories/tips/experiences!
