... then<4lbs means technically I've only really lost 36lbs.
I haven't posted for a while because I've been working on maintaining for a year rather than losing and posting progress pics. As my stats say above I'm a 26 year old woman. I lost 40 lbs in 6 or 7 months using MFP and CICO last year, and now I've been basically maintaining for 11 or 12 months.
At first maintenance was really easy because I felt like "wow, I can eat 1670 calories every day!?!? That's so many!" and I actually lost a few more pounds during the winter (down to 136,137 ish) just because I wasn't too hungry. I really like how I look at 136, very slender, but it's just not where my body ultimately wanted to maintain, so for basically the entire spring I stayed almost exactly at 139.6lbs for like 6months. I liked having that as my weight because it was still in the 130s.
I'm a teacher and once summer rolled around I thought I was going to have so much time to be active all summer that i could get back to 137, but somehow I gained a little weight and stayed at like 140, 141 all summer.
Once the school year started I thought I could get back to 139.6 since I would be meal prepping again, but now all fall I've been hanging around 141 and 142.
I know that it's just a couple of pounds but I'm worried that this is the first few pounds in gaining back all 40, and that really scares me. I bought all new clothes to fit my new body and I would hate to have to buy "fat clothes" again. I also feel so much healthier and got so much attention for losing weight that I would feel so awful and like a failure if I gained back the weight. Even these like 5 lbs feel like a huge defeat. Basically I'm really scared of gaining back the weight.
So, you'd think I'd have the motivation to lose it again. I did it once with CICO and MFP so why can't I do it again? I dont know why, but I seem to have a little less self control than I did a year ago. I'm definitely eating a little more carby than a year ago. I plan my meals using MFP at the beginning of the week but still end up going over on dinner. Usually I cook pretty healthily but sometimes I don't and sometimes my partner gets takeout.
Has anyone else struggled with maintaining after being successful for a while? Any suggestions?
I am going to go on my first ever run with a friend this Saturday so maybe I'll become one of those people who runs 5ks every weekend one day, but besides that fantasy/long term plan, I'm not sure what to do.
Thanks for any advice!!!
