NSV: Cardio isn’t necessary however it helps.

When I started my journey over half a year ago I was having more issues than just my weight.

Depression, alcohol and anxiety...they do not make for a good combo.

I was suffering with self image but also other issues, heart palpitations and gerd were the biggest on the list. Anyone who has suffered from palpitations knows how scary they can be, and they raise anxiety - which probably doesn’t help them.

Now this is not a cure for all ailments and I am in no way a medical expert. I am merely sharing what worked for me.

I started training for a 5k in May by running the course 3-5 times a week. Although it was difficult I continued running. Now I add different forms of cardio, it definitely doesn’t have to be running! I actually only run occasionally because of a injury. I do cardio at least twice a week. Spin, pound, stair machines, ellipticals. I don’t like doing the same thing as it gets super boring.

I have been tracking heart rate since February and there is a significant difference. So much difference that sometimes it doesn’t think it’s reading my heart rate right. My resting rate went from an average of 80-90 to 55-70.

My palpitations are mostly gone. (Sometimes bad days or large caffeine days trigger one)

My gerd is gone because I control what I eat when I eat it.

You defiantly do not have to do cardio to achieve goals but simply adding a minimal amount can make a huge difference in NSV.
