And I needed to share. Reflections prompted by checking the face gains:
- I feel a lot less compelled to wear makeup now, even though I used to never leave the house without it. In my after pic I'm wearing nothing, and feel completely fine not only socializing like that, but also taking pictures for social media
- I wear cute clothes consistently now, even when lounging around the house. I think before I felt like it would be a bit silly, like dressing up an animal, and now I know I'm going to look cute no matter what.
- Before I would spend like, 20 minutes taking pictures until I found one where I liked my angles, that wasn't showing my double chin, that accentuated my cheek bones. Now I just click once and go, knowing its going to look like me.
- I gave myself the day off of counting to celebrate (I am suffering serious tracking burnout this week but was slogging to hit 199) and my big indulgent meal was....home made shrimp tacos. I was so excited not to log avocado calories. Such a change from months ago, when I would have got breakfast from McDonalds or something equally as boring. Cooking has become an absolute pleasure for me!
I think the most important change is the last, as I've started viewing indulgence as an event, rather than something I get to do to reward myself at the end of the day. When I indulge now, I'm trying something I've never had before (this weekend I gorged myself on Korean BBQ) with some friends). I still have a long way to go, but I'm beginning to feel like change is sustainable long term, which is really more exciting than the lost weight.
