Advice Wanted: Recovering your eating patterns after a bereavement.

I'm approaching a year into CICO, 50lbs down and about 20lbs from goal. Recently I've been struggling with shifting those last pounds, and have spent several weeks on a plateau.

Then two weeks ago, one of my close friends died suddenly and unexpectedly, and as you can imagine that has thrown my eating for a loop.

I lost my almost 300 day streak on MFP, and in the days since he died I've completely lost control of my snacking. My meals are actually okay, we're still portion controlling and mostly logging those. The problem is that when I am emotional, I eat, and I eat things that are easy and make me feel better - basically just processed foods.

I want to be kind to myself given how awful an experience it is to lose someone, but I also don't want to lose the progress I've worked so hard to make. My friend was really proud of what I've achieved and I know he wouldn't want that.

I was wondering if there's anyone here who's had a similar experience with grief impacting their progress, and whether you have any advice?

Thank you so much.
