A little tip for holding yourself accountable! (VS included!)

Once upon a time, I read somewhere that as humans we receive instant satisfaction from marking things off on a calendar, list, etc. I don't know the exact study but if you've ever written a TO-DO list for yourself, you know what I mean. Checking that box off as complete just gives you life and a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. I decided to incorporate this into my workout routine and I have found to be very effective.

Using the Calendar app on my computer (which connects to my phone via my Apple ID) I have made it a habit to schedule in workouts before the week starts. Being a newbie, I have no idea what to do in the gym so I take classes with instructors such as Yoga and Spinning. Some days I'll do dance work shops to switch it up and move my body in a different way. I schedule in anywhere from 3-5 activities depending on my schedule and then as the week progresses, I either keep them if I made it to the class or delete them if I didn't end up going.

This is what my current calendar looks like - half of October up to this week. As you can see, its not perfect. One week I only got one workout in, but the more I do keep track the more I want to see more pink dots on there. So I push myself to attend my scheduled classes. My current goal is 3-4 workouts in a week. I've gotten to the point where if I miss a workout I get really disappointed and try to remember that feeling for the next time I try to talk myself out of a workout. I'm also slowly becoming addicted to the way my body feels the morning after a good workout.

Since incorporating this into my weekly goals, I'm down 4 lbs! 16 more lbs to go!

Now if I could just get the clean eating thing right....
