I went over to my friends for a playdate with out littles thanksgiving morning. First thing she said to me after “hi/how are you” was “wow, you look like you’ve lost weight!” I was shocked, I don’t see it. I’ve been on and off losing for years. I reached my highest during pregnancy and just lost any tiny bit of self esteem I had left at that point. It’s been a long road and it took me gaining 15 more lbs the first year post partum to get me on track to losing again. Starting this year in feb I started trying to eat smarter and cut out a lot of processed foods. I’ve struggled and done poorly all year. I lose motivation as soon as cravings hit me.
But, I kept trying on diet and kept trying to get more movement in my days. I’ve spent 10 months trying and only lost 30lbs. I couldn’t muster up any excitement for what I accomplished until I got that compliment because I’ve just been beating myself up with how I should have lost more. I feel invigorated a bit by this now. It felt nice to get noticed.
Here’s to those of us who keep trying! We’re still getting there even if by small steps.
Has anything made you guys see yourself in a new light lately?
