So I've been losing weight since the beginning of the year, and will dedicate the next two months to losing more body fat and vanity pounds before focusing more on the gym and muscle next year.
I never ate too badly, just too much. Dialing that back and learning how to eat smaller portions was hard at first, but as with any other skill it requires practice. Motivation is fleeting, but discipline is learnable!
So today I did something I can't see last-year-me doing!
I received a bunch of credits on a food delivery app and browsed mindlessly to see if anything caught my fancy. First thought was salads, but they're too expensive compared to what I can come up with on my own. I can make a bunch of salads for $10, why spend that on a single one?
So I had the dinner I planned to, and ordered 4 pizzas. Since I wasn't hungry anymore (on purpose), when they arrived I proceeded to wrap individual slices in tinfoil, and threw them into the freezer. I weighed each one (average of 100g) and decided to log them as mozzarella and pepperoni just to be on the safe side. One is ham and another margherita, for instance, but I logged as pepperoni and mozzarella to account for different dough recipes and so.
I will confess to picking pieces of onion or olives that were stuck on the boxes, I'm only human after all, but I'll be able to have a slice of pizza every day next week (two for my husband), and at that pace those pizzas will last for two weeks! I figure they'll last longer because I'll probably get tired of having pizza every day, but I'm so proud of how far I've come in my relationship with food.
I get to enjoy treats without guilt, without stuffing myself to the point of feeling sick, all while satisfying cravings and still providing my body with nice things it needs to work properly.
I'm a work in progress as anyone else, but I've proven to myself today that I can do this for life without feeling sad or deprived. I still work on discipline (can't let that skill get rusty!), but I'm so proud!
