I've been watching my calories for awhile, but not using any sort of tracking app. The other day I decided it would make my life easier to just drink the cool aid and download my fitness pal, so thats what I did, but now I have questions. So I previously thought that each macro, fat, protein, and carbohydrates, hold a specific number of calories, and all foods with calories fit into one of those categories. so if you eat 1500 calories per day, and want 30% of your calories to be from protein (4 cals/gram), you would shoot for 112.5 grams of protein, maybe 40% carbs would be 150 grams of carbs, and then 50 grams of fat at 9 calories per gram.
BUT today my calories are where they should be, but my macros are all over the place and it doesnt add up. i ate 1,215 calories total, and 282 grams of carbs (1,128 calories (??)), 90 grams of protein (360 calories), and 87 grams of fat (783 calories). So all in all that adds up to 2,271. This is all just taken directly off of my fitness pal, so it's not a personal calculation error of calories. So what's this about?
