Beginning my journey to health (again) while also traveling abroad, advice?

Hello all, long time lurker and have posted on a few throwaways on this sub, but never seriously stuck with anything. I *cringe* writing this but I have recently gained back a good bit of my weight that I once lost both in healthy ways, and then eventually in very unsustainable, not-so-healthy ways (read: eating disorder/heartbreak diet). I was at my lowest weight this time two years ago. I looked...tiny. But sick. I wasn't healthy physically or mentally. Now, I'm so thrilled about where my life is, but I am so unhappy in my body. I continue to put crappy food in my mouth and feel crappy about it. For the last year, I've been miserable getting dressed/ready in the morning. The way my thighs feel when I sit disgusts me. I'm not in shape. It makes me feel dissapointed in myself. I even ran a half marathon and learned that I cannot out-run these terrible eating habits.

The good news is, I have just landed a short term dream job post grad and will be working in the marine biology field on an Island across the world from where I am currently located. I feel a serious call to use this time away from friends and family to focus on my mental and physical health while pursuing my passion. Thankfully, I'll be moving around A LOT on the island, walking and hiking and I will also have access to a gym and yoga classes. The meals for interns/workers like myself are structured and provided, with seemingly healthy options so what better time than now to get fit and get RIGHT with myself over 6 months? Right?

However, I worry that the stress of travel may trigger some of my restrict/binge/restrict/BAD binge habits. Especially as it will take me about two days of flight and airport time to even get to my destination. I also will be living in a bathingsuit pretty much when I arrive, so cheers to being terrified for the next few months :-). What are your BEST tips for staying healthy and well while traveling or living outside of your home country? This will be a reoccuring theme for me for the next year or so, as my plans involve heavy travel. Have you ever made a major life change in the midst of trying to get your health under control? I leave in about five days for my move, what could I do to kick off this journey on the right foot?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
